 ActiveBase Secures Billing, Data warehouse and key business application Data for leading cellular carrier

TEL-AVIV, Febuary 2, 2008- ActiveBase, Ltd., the leader in application performance and active application security solutions, today announced that a leading cellular carrier implemented ActiveBase real-time monitoring technology to protect corporate data in critical databases supporting Billing, Data warehouse and other key business applications.
As a highly regulated public company, the cellular carrier must comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) mandates requiring real-time, granular controls governing activities on critical databases.
Specifically, it requires controls that proactively identify unauthorized access to sensitive database objects that could affect the integrity of applications in production environments. In addition, it requires safe guarding sensitive information populated in various testing and QA environments.
The cellular carrier learned that user data capture using native database logging solutions was inherently risky and ineffective. Other database security offerings are insufficient for auditor requirements and lacked ActiveBase enhanced control, performance improvement and Application Aware Blocking capabilities.
ActiveBase software suite has been quickly installed on several servers within the datacenter. It monitors, controls and optimizes all network traffic at the SQL command level, providing a detailed view of all database access to a predefined list of sensitive data objects.
To map its multi-site network, it used ActiveBase to identify who accessed each database, when it was accessed and what questionable patterns of behavior existed. The findings revealed issues in applications accessing critical data, and changes to data and their underlying structures.
ActiveBase also prohibits the use of unauthorized applications, such as developer tools, from accessing critical production databases, which could affect the integrity of its enterprise data.
ActiveBase Application Aware Blocking rules block offensive requests and ad-hoc queries to business critical applications, before any information breach might occur, ensuring only authorized data usage. Blocking rules also warn and guide users in real-time from within their application screens of the reason of the request block and possible corrective actions to be taken.
Centralized secured repository has been configured for unified SOX compliance reporting purposes.
